Privacy Policy

intentlii ("we," "us," or "our") operates the intentlii mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

We care about your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: Phone number or email address (used for authentication), display name, bio, and profile photo.

  • Location data: With your permission, we collect your approximate location (city/region) to help you discover nearby users and plans. GPS coordinates are stored securely on our servers and are never shared publicly.

  • Contacts: With your permission, we access your device contacts to help you find friends on intentlii. Contact phone numbers are hashed on your device before being sent to our servers — we never store your contacts' raw phone numbers.

  • User-generated content: Intents, events, messages, responses, and other content you create within the Service.

  • Device information: Push notification tokens for delivering notifications. We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or hardware specifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain the Service, including enabling you to create and discover intents, events, and groups.

  • Facilitate connections by helping you find and communicate with other users.

  • Send push notifications about activity relevant to you (new responses, messages, event updates). You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

  • Send a one-time SMS when a user shares a plan with a friend via phone number. The recipient receives a single message with a link to view the plan. Recipients are not subscribed to any messaging list and can reply STOP to opt out.

  • Improve the Service through anonymous, aggregated usage analytics (see Section 4).

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or participate in ad tracking.

  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers.

  • We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.

4. Analytics

We use Mixpanel for server-side analytics to understand how features are used in aggregate. Our analytics implementation follows strict privacy rules:

  • Only anonymous usage events are tracked (e.g., "an intent was created"), not the content of your intents, messages, or personal details.

  • IP-based geolocation is disabled — your IP address is not recorded by our analytics provider.

  • No personal information (name, email, phone number, message content) is ever sent to our analytics provider.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management. Clerk processes your phone number or email to verify your identity. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.

  • Google Cloud Platform — server hosting and media storage. Your uploaded photos and content are stored securely on Google Cloud Storage.

  • Mixpanel — anonymous server-side analytics (see Section 4).

  • Sentry — error monitoring to help us fix crashes. Error reports do not contain personal information; all text and images in session replays are masked.

  • Twilio — SMS delivery for peer-initiated plan sharing. Twilio processes the recipient's phone number to deliver the message. See Twilio's Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account in the app. When you delete your account:

  • All your personal data is permanently deleted, including your profile, intents, events, messages, and group memberships.

  • Deletion is immediate and irreversible — there is no recovery period.

  • Your authentication account is also deleted from our identity provider.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS), secure cloud infrastructure, and access controls. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that information.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you.

  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

  • Opt out of analytics (contact us and we will exclude your account).

  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app.

California residents and users in the European Economic Area may have additional rights under the CCPA and GDPR respectively. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
